My research on this topic is not some sort of new found knowledge. I grew up around guns in a community that heavily supports the second amendment. Our nation has recently been plagued with gun violence. 340 mass shootings took place in 2018. The facts and the numbers began to stun me as I continued to read. As I took deeper dives I began to notice that gun deaths are only 1% of our nations death total. Yes this is sad but compared to drunk driving and drug addiction this problem does not amount to the amount of press it receives. There still needs to be solutions yes but I feel that we need to first take a step back and see the bigger picture before we begin to strip our rights away.
